A warm and hearty helping of movie comfort food. The song and dance numbers are all so lovely and the love story and patriotic finale are enough to make you feel delightfully fuzzy.

The musical numbers are pretty good and the rest of the film is decent. Not even close to one of my favorite musicals, but I can't resist watching anything with Bing Crosby.

The plot is interesting. And, there's some funny moments. I just thank God that the minstrel show didn't have any blackface in it, as I was kinda expecting it to. That would've ruined the whole movie.

Sure, it has its cheesy moments, but the general goodwill, combined with some great songs, humor courtesy of Danny Kaye, and some truly heartfelt scenes, makes this a holiday classic.

Definitely shows its age. There are some super cheesy moments, some bizarre dance numbers, and a disturbing display of anorexia. But when the general walks in and all his troops sing for him...oh, i'm such a softie.

Wonderful seasonal movie with lots of classically over-the-top song and dance scenes. It has a great plot, especially for a musical, with touches of comedy, romance and an enduring theme of friendship.
