Twisty entertaining historical thriller with some Hitchcockian elements. At the outbreak of the Civil War, a policeman uncovers a plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln. Dick Powell is very good as the stalwart lawman. Paula Raymond plays the female lead but it’s Ruby Dee that upstages her in a pivotal role.
