Borrowing from "Yojimbo," The Man with no Name series, and "Dirty Harry," this is Eastwood at his most vengeful, playing essentially an Angel of Death set on bringing retribution against outlaws and townsfolk alike.

A dark Western that tells a story of revenge and vigilante justice personified. Differing from previous Eastwood films, Eastwood plays a lone gunman whose tactics are questionable and the film skillfully plays with open-ended questions of redemption and condemnation. Actually very thought-provoking when you get into it.
