While not as fresh as the original movie, the world-building of Zootopia remains inventive and the characters are still funny. The animation looks incredible and the chase scenes are exciting. The voice acting by Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin still works.

Buried under the kid-friendly characters and vibrant world of Zootopia there is a surprisingly mature story going on. Plus I love the nods to everything from Ratatouille to the iconic Coke polar bear - and absolutely died at the Burning Mammal festival. Overall, a sequel that more than lives up to the original - a lot of fun with some deeper themes that leaves you with something to chew on.

Too many sequels out there are simply recreations of the first story played in a lesser key. While "Zootopia 2" certainly has call backs to 2016's movie, directly copying and pasting it doesn't do. There's also a lot of new and mature themes it tackles like colonialism and rewriting history to serve a corrupt narrative.
