It's rare for a sequel to match the original - doubly so for the horror genre, but with Scott Derrickson back at the helm and the principal cast returning, Black Phone 2 has just as much impact. Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw once again give some powerful and emotional performances and, of course, Ethan Hawke is still in top form as The Grabber - straight from hell to your nightmares. I especially like how the dream sequences are presented in that Super 8 grainy video footage. Also, props to whoever though to include "Subways of the Mind" - a nice touch. If you liked the original, this one will keep you entertained.
