Bittersweet comedy-drama that is really 70% drama and 30% comedy. The mood is low key and the performances are understated. Naomi Watts' canine costar is immediately endearing in the tradition of Old Yeller or Marley & Me. Although it is not the most eventful movie and there is little conflict aside from just the process of overcoming grief.
