Unsettling to the max, Bring Her Back keeps up the tension and rarely lets go. The deeper you go into the story the creepier things get. Sally Hawkins is excellent as the seemingly harmless adoptive mother - but she's anything but as her existing child, Ollie, exhibits some truly bizarre behavior. Of course her motivation results in more death along the way, including one I didn't see coming. All in all, A24 continues to be the go-to for horror and for the Halloween season, it just hits right.

Trauma and grief are hardly strangers to modern art-house and elevated horror films, but like "Talk to Me," the near nonstop dread, moments of humor, and great lead performances earn this disturbingly warped vision its stripes. 17-year-old newcomer Billy Barratt really holds his own even when up against esteemed veteran Sally Hawkins who is basically playing both the Toni Collette and Ann Dowd characters from "Hereditary" at the exact same time here.
