Plot: A family moves into a new house when an unknown entity watches their every move. Seemingly drawn most closely to the daughter, Chloe, who is dealing with the fallout after the death of two girls she knew, she also seems most keen on connecting to it. It is also soon apparent the entire family is divided - he father trying to his best to show empathy while her mother stays detached and focuses on their son, Tyler, a swimmer and in with the popular crowd. As we watch scenes unfold from this entity's perspective, a visiting psychic says it is not violent - just confused - even as things grow more and more tense. -- Chris Kavan

Such an interesting concept for a film - as we take on the POV of our ghost/entity/spirit - whatever you want to call it, that follows a family moving into a new house. The film cuts into mini scenes - an argument, a family dinner, chilling with a friend - but there is a general feeling of unease, especially as it focuses on Chloe (Callina Liang), who is suffering emotional trauma following the overdose death of two girls she knew. Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan and Eddy Maday round out our dysfunctional family - as well as West Mulholland, the popular kid in their new school. There is no blood, gore or cheap scares, just a lot of tension and an ending I didn't see coming for once. If you like slow-burn type films, I highly recommend it.

"Presence" is so convincing with its methods of presenting information and developing its characters that I actually wasn't too disappointed by the fact it's not all that scary.
