It isn't the painfully bad type of movies Eddie Murphy would get stuck making for 10+ years after it, but it's hardly funny enough to recommend.

Professor Sherman Klump (Eddie Murphy) reconstructs the DNA of an obese person to easily lose weight. He falls for Carla Purty (Jada Pinkett), a chemistry graduate student. Dean Richmond (Larry Miller) has set up a meeting with Harlan Hartley (James Coburn) about the created serum by Sherman. The soundtrack and make-up was entertaining. There were times the dialogue felt sappy. The Nutty Professor is a descent comedy to view to have a few laughs.
