John Candy and the rest of the cast are trying to make this work better than it does. It has its moments. I like Candy playing the private eye role as oblivious yet obnoxious. Annie Potts is having fun as a sexy gold digger. The backstabbing among the villains is kind of funny. But there are long stretches where the main plot is just boring and not really interesting.
