WW2 spy-thriller about a Nazi general (Hawkins) secretly working for the Allies. Hawkins gives his character a resolute if repressed personality, making his romance with a fellow agent (Scala) all the more risky. It’s telling how much more of the suspense comes from the love story and not the war itself.
