Hank Azaria is a playwright whose stage musical is suppressed during the Red Scare of the 1930’s. Despite the fact I can’t really buy John Cusack as Nelson Rockefeller and I can’t stand Emily Watson whatsoever, this Tim Robbins film is entirely likeable and ultimately touching. A bit pushy sometimes (but altogether informative), this film features more stars than a John Kerry fund-raiser – memorable among them, Bill Murray as a stoolie-ventriloquist.
