"Thunderbolts*" isn't a great Marvel movie, but it is a great representation of the brand's current state. It brings together a mix and match of different characters each dealing with different frustrations, discouragement, and defeats. Like Marvel fans themselves, this team of heroes is dealing with a world without the beloved Avengers, and that's kinda interesting.

The MCU has tried to find its footing post Endgame and the results have been a decidedly mixed bag but one would say overall mostly on the disappointing end. A few standouts (No Way Home, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Deadpool & Wolverine), a few decent (Shang Chi, Multiverse of Madness, Wakanda Forever) and a lot of meh to bad (Eternals, Love & Thunder, Brave New World, Black Widow, The Marvels, Quantumania). Acting is excellent, with both Florence Pugh and David Harbor trying to steal the movie from each other as father and daughter. Some of the psychological scenes delving into the past of the various characters gets a bit rough for a Marvel movie and pushes things towards Rated R territory, even though the movie is only rated PG-13, so be warned. Action in the …
