The Human Race

Last post on 02/11/14 at 09:17 PM CT by Chris Kavan

I mainly have this on my radar because the premise reminds me a lot of the Stephen King novel "The Long Walk". Hopefully it's more of a homage than a ripoff - I'll keep my eye out for this one.

Wall, The ( Wand, Die )

Last post on 01/21/14 at 09:28 PM CT by Juan

This film is Kafka no matter how you look at it well rendered very low budget and yet very creative visually as well the use of sound or none to isolate or switch mind and real or whatever is time and space within the mind the film can be tiring and slow but so is the mind when reasons.

Grandmaster, The ( Yi dai zong shi )

Last post on 01/21/14 at 09:12 PM CT by Juan

This is a very well made film with a different take at martial arts films , the photography is top notch the acting is excellent great director the atmosphere is highly stylized perhaps too much and still is an action film pack with fast actions and cutting .

Knights of Badassdom

That's good news - I feel like I've been waiting for this movie for the better part of half my life.  I would be stoked for a 2014 release.  And I'm with you on hoping for the best; it's sounded so awesome from the moment I heard of it that if it turns out decidedly less so it would be a major disappointment.

50 to 1

Last post on 12/13/13 at 11:34 AM CT by Ellen

Am hoping that this indie film gets some wide distribution.  I  love movies about underdogs.  The cast looks to be excellent with one of my favorite actors, Christian Kane appearing in it.

Nebraska

Last post on 11/19/13 at 08:10 PM CT by Su Zany

This is a pre-discussion.I haven't seen this movie - but it's not because I don't want to. In fact, I spent several hours tracking all of the possible places it was playing. I live in Wisconsin. The closest theater I found was Omaha, Nebraska. Why do I want to see this movie? Because it is one of the few movies where my husband and I meet. We've enjoyed Fahrenheit 9/11, Life Is Beautiful and GasLand together. He likes slapstick, humour, animation. We both like science fiction but never the …

Saving Mr. Banks

If you are planning on seeing this movie I highly recommend watching The Sherman Brothers first. It is a great documentary and the the Sherman brothers will play a role in this movie.

So This is Christmas

I've seen A, B, C and even some D-list movies. But this one is a definite F. Can they even call them actors and directors if neither happened? Seriously, don't waste your time.

The Conjuring

Thank you guys for your thoughs about this movie, as I was wondering wether to watch it or not. Now I know that I want to watch it.

Warm Bodies

Last post on 10/02/13 at 06:21 AM CT by LeeAnn M.

I love how we have different opinions about zombies and talk about the variations of zombies: fast, slow, lovable, uncaring, undead, able to revert back to prezombie human. I love all the new movies that open up this discussion! I'm not usually the fan of this kind of cinema, but Zombieland, Warm Bodies, and World War Z have all been very different from each other, but still very entertaining for me.

The Purge (2013)

Last post on 09/30/13 at 07:48 AM CT by CptSpaulding

This Thriller, (not a horror movie)I loved it.And nicely done, excellent plot, excellent actors.Personally, I found it very realistic, not so much for the "want to help others," but for realism and cynicism of the neighbors. The hatred envy, accumulated during the year, caused by is protagonist, who do not realize that sometimes silence in silence and better.Realistic, wonderful,My vote: 10 +

Prisoners (2013)

Last post on 09/23/13 at 07:28 PM CT by Chris Kavan

I wasn't too thrilled by the trailers - but it looks like this is one I will have to check out as reviews have been positive. I probably won't catch it in theaters, but it has a spot reserved on my "to watch" list now.

The World's End

Last post on 09/17/13 at 07:34 PM CT by Chris Kavan

Silly - yes - but I though it was excellent and right in line with the previous Pegg/Wright/Frost films - if not the best in the series. I was worried it was going to go too far off the rails, but I couldn't have been happier with the results. As of right now, it's my favorite film of the year.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

i,ll have to see this one by the sound of it.

This is the End

Last of the Dogmen

I think Last of the Dogmen is a great movie. Love Barbar Hershey. I am a Babara Hershey fan. It's also a family movie. Love everything about Last of the Dogmen.if you haven't seen it then you need to. I have it

The Lone Ranger (2013)

Last post on 07/26/13 at 08:04 PM CT by Chris Kavan

The only saving grace is going to be if international numbers can save it from being a complete disaster. One thing's for certain - it's not going to spawn any franchise. I haven't seen this yet, but I've relegated it to Netflix status rather than a theater-worthy experience.

Stage Beauty

Last post on 07/18/13 at 05:24 PM CT by Dr MO

Such an interesting plot!My main attraction thou was Billy Crudup's perfect impersonation of the character.I actually believed I was watching Ned Kynaston..the graceful "feminine" actor..the man trapped in woman's form.Billy acted so well that I felt his pain, perplexity, fear and anger. There is a specific scene that should be one of the best in the entire history of cinema, that is the scene where Billy plead to the king to let him act as a woman..as a challenge the king ordered him to show …

Fast & Furious 6

Last post on 07/12/13 at 09:33 PM CT by Chris Kavan

I can't imagine Fast 5 or 6 being nearly as good without the ensemble cast. The fact they were able to get everyone together is impressive in itself. The last film was nearly a parody of itself and I kind of hope the next film is just a bit more grounded but with Jason Statham involved, something tells me it's going to be just as crazy as the last one.

After Earth

Last post on 07/07/13 at 09:33 AM CT by Daniel Corleone

Will is a support in this one.  @ FSUNoles27TS  It seems Will is spoiling him on this film.  Jaden has a future given the right roles.  Karete Kid barely scratches the surface.  I still feel Pursuit of Happyness was his best so far.

White House Down

Last post on 07/06/13 at 03:01 PM CT by Chris Kavan

I'm surprised this didn't do better when it opened, but as a summer movie, I couldn't think of a more perfect example of over-the-top-fun - and let's face it, blowing up the White House just never gets old.

V/H/S/2

Last post on 07/01/13 at 08:48 PM CT by Chris Kavan

I thought certain parts of the first one were pretty good - so if this one is better, I will have to check it out. Anthology horror is more miss than hit recently, but here's hoping they finally got it right.

Insidious: Chapter 2

Last post on 06/05/13 at 07:47 PM CT by MikePA

The trailer is pretty cool. I'm curious to see how they're going to make this film work following that cool twist at the end of the first one. This is a pretty big year for James Wan, with this and The Conjuring (which looks awesome) both coming out this year and his shot with Fast and Furious 7. He deserves it. I think the guy's talented.
