This darkly comedic noir pastiche is certainly more complicated than it needed to be. Plus the story just kind of wanders around a slightly more bizarre Los Angeles backdrop. But it's hard not to laugh at some of the jokes and the cast is actually solid. Mel Gibson is hilarious as an eccentric actor accused of murder.
