Only 25 Million? Ouch... That's pretty underwhelming for a BIG summer action movie. Though, I agree about Kitsch. Maybe 'Savages' will shine a better light for him.

Opened to mostly lackluster reviews, but I was surprised at how much this movie grew on me as it went along.

I feel like this movie was pointless. It was a waste of time yo even pick up the camera. No jessica alba? No thanks!

She doesnt have schizophrenic episodes if there is another personality. she has DID or Dissasociative Identity Dissorder. Schizophrenia is a condition where someone may feel that they are the target of an attack from their peers or family and may feel that people spy on them as well as plan to kill them because they are on to something. in this case "mum" acted to normal to have Schizophrenia she obviously would have had DID since she turned into a compleatly different person. But she didnt …

Any guesses for final total gross? I'm thinking $400 million isn't out of the question. It will be interesting to see what kind of hold it has this second weekend - I don't think either Mirror, Mirror or Wrath of the Titans will be able to top it, in fact, it has a good shot for maybe three weeks coming up. My review may not be as glowing as some, but I still recommend watching it if you haven't already. My guess is is will easily wind up in the top 5 films of the year, and has a shot at …

Something tells me as soon as Twilight was a hit, everything Stephanie Meyer's was involved in was optioned. Can't say the subject matter interests me a whole lot, but Saoirse Ronan has much more talent than Kristen Stewart, so at least casting wise they're off to a good start.

I don't know much about it. I know that Burton is behind it but I have lost confidence in him as of late.

Watched the trailer. I don't buy the premise at all and it doesn't look funny.
A Thousand Words

Got
a chance to talk to actor Ariel Felix about his role in "A Thousand
Words." Here's what he said:
Tell me about your role in A THOUSAND WORDS
Ariel: I play a Jr. Agent
who has a couple of dealings with Eddie Murphy's character. He plays
a high profile literary agent and it follows him after he stretches the truth
on a deal. Aside from the film being funny, it holds a good lesson
on the consequences of every word we speak. And for the record, I …

That's one of my favorite documentaries. This situation with 'Bully' is just a repeat of some of the stories in 'This Film Is Not Yet Rated'.

In terms of worst sequels this ranks somewhere between Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows and Speed 2 Cruise Control.
Safe House (2012)

I am so glad I took the chance to see Safe House. It was not what I expected at all, and it proved that Denzel Washington's Oscar win was not a fluke. It seemed to be a mix between Training Day and Bourne Identity with all the action and car chases. The camera shaking is a little too much to take at times, but I guess that adds to the realism of the situations such as the fight scenes. For a February movie, Safe House really went beyond my expectations and turned out to be a very entertaining …
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Exactly, Taz! I loved the original trilogy and passed that excitement for the films to my son, who has been hooked on Star Wars episodes I V, V,and VI since he was three. (At five, he's still too young to watch I, II, and III.)   ;I tried to with my daughter, but she just didn't "get it." I don't think 3D will add anything to the whole series, but I would love to show my son the originals on the big screen, as he has so far seen them only in the livingroom …
Get the Gringo
Last post on 02/10/12 at 02:41 PM CT by Chris Kavan
It was called How I Spent My Summer Vacation, but for whatever reason, at least for the U.S. release, they changed the title. It also looks like it won't be getting a theatrical release here, either. I have a feeling the trailer highlights the comedy elements, but in the end it will be geared more towards action/drama (maybe similar to Payback?).
Haywire (2012)

This is the first film of 2012 that I am more than looking forward to seeing. All the elements at play here just seem right: from director, to cast, to pretty much everything else. Plus, I favor these types of action movies. I'll post my review sometime this weekend, after I see it.

Prelude to a Kiss

I liked the way this flick can intimately portray both the wonderful retardation of new love (without the standard, overdone, graphic sex scene) and the very private dance of despair and disillusionment. Homophobic men will not be fond of this flick, I know. Generally, I'd say it's a chick flick.
Elysium

It almost comes out on my birthday (in 2013) - but it's so far out, the release date could be moved up. I have faith - Blomkamp really was a breath of fresh air - I hear he's going to continue the District 9 in sequels down the line (though Elysium is apparently an original idea and not part of that story). I'm interested to see what he can do - with Hollywood continuing to churn out mass amounts of sequels and reboots, I like people who can come up with something original.

The last movie I saw Jim Carrey in was Yes Man - which is a pretty mediocre comedy all-around (even if it is one of the few films to feature good old Nebraska). His choices recently seem all over the place: I Love You Phillip Morris is decidedly different from A Christmas Carol. And the less said about The Number 23, the better. He's very inconsistent - I have nothing against him personally, but I don't understand his process for choosing roles anymore.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

I had never read the books, or watched the original films, but I genuinely enjoyed this film. I think that most other film fans will appreciate it and most of the mainstream audience will be turned off. There isn't really a middle ground with this kind of movie.
