There are quite a few people out there who consider this the best Godzilla film ever made - and I'm inclined to side with them. The reason this resonates so well is the human element - post-war trauma, shame and grief - delivered with plenty of emotion. And don't worry, though Godzilla may not have a ton of screen time, when he's there, it's intense. A truly stunning achievement.
