Worst Movies of 2011

I've been wanting to create a Best of 2011 list, but I'm behind on my movies and there's are some high-profile films I've yet to see. However, I saw plenty of bad movies in 2011 so I thought I could make a list of my least favorite movies of the year. Granted, there are some poorly reviewed movies I never saw (such as anything with Nicolas Cage) but I usually don't see a movie I know I wouldn't …
Ten Films That Will Make or Break 2012
Chris Kavan - wrote on 01/05/12 at 12:32 PM CT
Bid farewell to 2011 and the disappointing box office numbers, and welcome 2012, in which Hollywood hopes to bounce back. In that regard, there are a number of films that will shape the landscape. These new releases in 2012 will either boost the box office or fail in their endeavors and provide another lackluster year. Yet considering the slate of films, I have a feeling 2012 will be, if not a …
New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave: Contagion Spreads but Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

Out with the old, in with the new. Hollywood isn't wasting any time with presenting a decent lineup for the start of the 2012 new DVD releases season. Last week was scant, at least this week you have a few choices. Whether you approve of them or not is another matter.
1) If you're not a germaphobe already, Steven Soderbergh will try his best to make sure you think twice about touching …
New Year Weekend Box Office: It's Mission: Possible Once Again for Ghost Protocol
Chris Kavan - wrote on 01/02/12 at 10:27 PM CT
The year might not have gone out with the bang Hollywood wanted, but it was a solid final tally from one year to the next.
As expected, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol held on to its first-place position. Taking in $29.6 million over the weekend (and an additional $8.7 million on Monday) it leaped past M:I III with a $141.2 million total. It should have little problem surpassing the $181 …
New Movies to Crave: Something Old, Nothing New
Chris Kavan - wrote on 12/30/11 at 02:29 PM CT
So, hopefully no one is looking forward to anything new to ring in the new year, as there are no new wide release films coming out this weekend. Instead, I'll touch on the two films that came out over Christmas that I so thoughtlessly neglected last week and we'll call it even.
1) Steven Spielberg did a little double duty last week. The Adventures of Tintin came out Wednesday while War Horse …

New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave: Enjoy Your Final Destination with Apollo 18

After the huge push right before Christmas, it looks like the new releases are being dialed down for New Year's. In fact, unless you happen to be a fan of questionable horror films, you may as well go to the theater or stay home with a bottle of champagne.
1) I was hoping we were finally done with this particular series, but apparently death just isn't in the mood to give up so easily. Final …
Holiday Weekend Box Office: Mission: Accomplished Ghost Protocol, Dragon Tattoo, Tintin Disappoint
Chris Kavan - wrote on 12/27/11 at 09:42 AM CT
After opening with a bang in mostly IMAX theaters last week, Tom Cruise and co. officially made a hit out of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol. It turns out that maybe audiences weren't in the mood for graphic rape and torture as, despite heavy marketing, David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo couldn't best Sherlock Holmes or The Chipmunks.
Ghost Protocol stood out above the …
Celebrities and Their Favorite Movies

After watching Open Court on TV, I decided to create a blog since it seemed like a good idea. Shaq names Don’t Be a Menace in South Central particularly mentioning the hot cheese scene, Kenny Smith cites Do The Right Thing, Steve Kerr says Shawshank Redemption and Charles Barkley states that he never gets tired of Braveheart, divulging that he just saw it three days ago.
Other sports …
New Movies to Crave Holiday Edition: Dragon Tattoo, Adventures of TinTin and Ghost Protocol Face Off
Chris Kavan - wrote on 12/21/11 at 10:41 AM CT
Hollywood looks to end 2011 with a bang instead of whimper. After Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and his Chipmunks failed to provide that much-needed spark, three high-profile films look to reverse those fortunes.
1) I've been looking forward to David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo since it was announced. From early set photos to the teaser trailer, TV spots, up to that full-length …
