What To Watch In Theatres This Weekend?
Nick - wrote on 01/14/11 at 11:41 AM CT
Two movies are coming out this weekend that are worth some attention. Now whether or not they're going to be good is another story...
The Green Hornet
If you've watched any TV in the last month, you know they've been advertising the crap out of this movie. Comic book lovers and vigilante wanna-bees may be disappointed after watching this film. Why Seth Rogen was chosen for this part I …
New Movies to Crave: The Green Hornet Battles a Dilemma
Chris Kavan - wrote on 01/14/11 at 08:45 AM CT
It should be an interesting weekend at the box office for once now that a super hero has arrived on the scene.
1) I'm interested to find out if The Green Hornet can overcome bad early buzz to become a certified hit. While I'm still not sure Seth Rogan is the right choice, at least in the last few weeks the ad wizards have really stepped up their game in making the movie much more appealing. …
New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave This Week: Get Social but Watch Out for Piranha
Chris Kavan - wrote on 01/11/11 at 11:04 AM CT
While the quantity may be down this week, the quality makes up for it.
1) If you haven't seen The Social Network yet, I implore you to buy, rent or steal this film. I consider it the best film of 2010 and one of the more relevant films to be released in years. Even if you don't have any idea what Facebook is, or you hate the site, it's still a worthwhile film just from an acting and directing …
Weekend Box Office: True Grit Finally Lives Up to Its Name; Fockers, Witch Hang Tough
Chris Kavan - wrote on 01/10/11 at 09:56 AM CT
While it was a modest start to the new year, at least True Grit was finally able to top the box office.
The Coen Brothers' western earned $15 million and now stands at $110.4 million. The films has now topped the grosses of Maverick, The Unforgiven and Tombstone - though attendance numbers are still lower due to higher ticket prices. As far as westerns go, this ranks as one of the best of the …
New Movies to Crave: The Witch is Back (Season of the)
Chris Kavan - wrote on 01/07/11 at 11:41 AM CT
Well, hopefully you need to catch up on some of the rush of limited release films (I know I certainly do) because Hollywood isn't in much of a mood for new films.
In fact, the only film opening in wide release today is the Nicolas Cage Black Plague drama / fantasy film Season of the Witch. Considering this has been pushed back from an earlier release into the dregs of January, something tells …
People's Choice Awards - Did The People Get It Right?

Favorite Movie - The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
The final award of the night, and maybe the biggest let down. The Twilight groupies were voting strong on this one. With the movie being #73 on FilmCrave's top movies of 2010, I find it hard to believe this movie should actually be the winner. After all, FilmCrave is also based on regular people's ratings. With other nominated movies like …
New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave This Week: Schmucks, a Machete and One Last Exorcism
Chris Kavan - wrote on 01/03/11 at 11:40 PM CT
It looks like the machine is once again rolling as the releases are all over the map this week. Hopefully you like a good scare as well, as there are a couple of good contenders out there.
1) You have to hand it to Robert Rodriguez. Only he could turn a throwaway trailer gag in Grindhouse into a full-fledged movie and start a trend (Hobo with a Shotgun?). Anyway, Machete is just as fun as it …
Weekend Box Office: Little Fockers Shows Up True Grit
Chris Kavan - wrote on 01/02/11 at 11:03 PM CT
Despite having an edge over the New Year holiday, the Coen Brothers couldn't stave off Ben Stiller and Co. for the weekend.
The third film in the series, Little Fockers took the top spot with $26.3 million with a $103.2 total. With few comedies on the horizon, Little Fockers could have a good shelf life.
In second place was True Grit with $24.5 million. With a total of $86.8 million, the …
The Year in Review - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Plus My Top Films of 2010
Chris Kavan - wrote on 12/31/10 at 12:24 PM CT
If you're looking for new movies to crave this week - sorry, the only film that's opening limited release that I consider worth mentioning is Blue Valentine. So if that's your cup of tea, seek it out.
Anyway, onto the year in film 2010. It was the year that 3D went mainstream - to the delight and horror of many - it gave us great sequels (Toy Story 3!) and a whole lot of not-so-great-sequels …
New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave This Week: The American Afterlife
Chris Kavan - wrote on 12/28/10 at 10:10 AM CT
Now that Christmas is over, it looks like the mountain of releases is also taking a break.
1) Out in front is George Clooney as The American. While audiences were taken a bit aback a gloomy Clooney, at least he has some character. Hey, a winning smile and twinkle in your eye can only get you so far - sometimes to have to dig a little deeper.
2) Action gluttons and zombie fans alike will …
