Clown and Out in Hollywood

While I don't necessarily have a problem with guys with red noses, funny hair and white face paint, a lot of other people do seem to have issues. Luckily for us, Hollywood continually reminds us that clowns are either scary or at least messed up. Isn't that nice of them? Here then are the top choices for giving you nightmares and hopefully passing the fear on to the next generation.

New Movies to Crave: Unstoppable Train, Angry Aliens and Morning People
Chris Kavan - wrote on 11/12/10 at 11:58 AM CT
Can an Unstoppable train or an alien invasion topple a Megamind? That will be decided over the weekend as three contenders enter the scene to see if they can steal some thunder away from last week's winners.
1) Even though I don't think any film looks to be an absolute winner, I guess I'm going with Unstoppable as the best of the new films. Mainly because I like Denzel Washington and Chris …
A Veteran Film for All Occasions

In honor of Veteran's Day, here is a list of films that best exemplify the honor, bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country.
1) The Kick-Ass Veteran - Rambo: First Blood - Sly Stallone has made many a Rambo film, but the original is still the king. It may be a bit over-the-top, but it shows that one man can make a difference, especially with plenty of weapons and …
New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave This Week: Grow Up, Pilgrim
Chris Kavan - wrote on 11/09/10 at 09:40 AM CT
One highly successful film, one under-performing cult hit and lots of fun for everyone this week in releases.
1) I know where my allegiance lies - with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I don't care if it was a box office failure, I'm the target demographic and I thought the movie was a blast. If you like video games at all, you owe it to yourself to watch this one.
2) I'm not quite as enamored …
Weekend Box Office: It's Megamind That Matters
Chris Kavan - wrote on 11/08/10 at 10:58 AM CT
It appears that audiences have been having an animated withdraw, as Megamind was the top draw this weekend.
With an estimated $47.7, Megamind had a strong debut, though predictions had it pegged somewhere in the $55 - $60 million range, so it also may have been a slight letdown. Despite the smaller opening, Megamind was on par with an earlier hit, How to Train Your Dragon and if it can hold …
When Giant Animals Attack!
Chris Kavan - wrote on 11/06/10 at 01:36 PM CT
Rodents of unusual size? Not good enough, I say! I want my creatures to be so wholly humongous, they put any other animal to shame. Size does matter when it comes to crushing puny humans.
1) King Kong - Don't monkey around with this guy - whether it's the original or one of the remakes, he always manages to escape and wreck havoc. No matter how much money you think you can make off an …
New Films to Crave: Between a Rock, a Due Date and One Megamind
Chris Kavan - wrote on 11/05/10 at 06:01 PM CT
Halloween weekend over? Good, now we're back on track. A lot of films come out today, and depending on your mood, you may just find one you like.
1) Me? I'm pulling for 127 hours. Anytime you get to watch a one-man show about amputation, there must be something going right. I have faith that James Franco can pull off this dramatic story.
2) You don't want drama - try comedy. Robert Downey …
When Fiction Becomes Reality for Movie Characters
Chris Kavan - wrote on 11/04/10 at 10:48 AM CT
Sure, movies are already fictional, but some movies aren't content with one fictional world - they make their characters become lost in their own fictional worlds. It's like a movie within a movie - but it's not so hard to wrap your head around. Here are the top contenders:
1) Pleasantville - Imagine you could join the cast of your favorite television show - I mean, what would you do? For two …
New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave This Week: Toys, Music and Goonies
Chris Kavan - wrote on 11/02/10 at 10:26 AM CT
It's a good week for the family as many of the new releases coming out are great for people of all ages.
1) Leading the pack is Pixar's latest juggernaut Toy Story 3. Breaking all kinds of records during its theatrical run, and in my opinion the best out of the Toy Story bunch, this is sure to be a favorite with the family.
2) In other family news, The Goonies is also getting an updated …
Weekend Box Office: Extra Dimension Gives Saw the Edge It Needs
Chris Kavan - wrote on 11/01/10 at 11:26 AM CT
As far as a franchise films series can go, Saw went out more with a bang than a whimper. Thanks in large part to its 3D, the supposedly "Final Chapter" of Saw earned an estimated $22.5 million over the weekend or a total of $24.2 with Thursday showings factored in. It was much better than Saw VI's $14.3 million, but couldn't break the $30 million mark as Saws II - V had done.
